Regional Trade for Development Expert Panel

Regional Trade for Development Expert Panel

The Project at A Glance

The Regional Trade for Development Facility (RT4D) Facility has formed a Panel of organisations and individuals to support the implementation of the AANZFTA Implementation Support Program (AISP) and the RCEP Implementation Support Program (RISP), and other program activities. The AISP and RISP assist ASEAN Member States, in particular Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV), in fulfilling their commitments under the AANZFTA and RCEP agreements. Tetra Tech International Development has been engaged by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as Head Contractor to provide project management services.

As part of the Panel, International Economics is providing technical expertise to support the Facility in strategic planning, work planning, project and implementation, and reporting across key components of FTA implementation.

What We Found

The RT4D facility supports ASEAN’s commitment to the AANZFTA and RCEP, aiming to strengthen economic relations between ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand. This includes enhancing trade and investment, fostering regional economic integration, generating new business opportunities and promoting sustainable development. A notable feature of the program is the Trade and Gender Equality Incubator, which aligns with the ASEAN Community Vision 2025’s goal for gender-responsive implementation.

Our Strategy and Impact

International Economics is offering technical assistance in several areas, including Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Investment, Intellectual Property, Competition and Consumer Protection, Government Procurement, E-Commerce, Micro-Small-Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and Trade and Sustainable Development, to develop documents on FTA and sector-specific strategic priorities.
