International Economics, led by its CEO, conducted a study to identify the framework and institutional anchoring of the EU-Côte d’Ivoire interim Economic Partnership Agreement (iEPA) implementation observatory, in line with the iEPA implementation strategy.
The project, implemented by GOPA, was carried out through the Cellule de Coordination de la Coopération Côte d’Ivoire-Union Européenne, to support the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
The iEPA, which has been in force since September 3, 2016, guarantees Côte d’Ivoire free access to the European market for its products and supports economic growth through trade, investment, and employment. A baseline study was conducted to establish the conditions prior to the implementation of the EPA, against which outcomes was compared. In addition to an assessment of performance and outcomes, the study prepared a roadmap to establish an EPA trade observatory.
The observatory will serve as an objective guide to assess progress made in the negotiations and implementation of the iEPA.
