Support to Public Engagement for Investment Climate in Tanzania

Support to Public Engagement for Investment Climate in Tanzania

The Project at A Glance

International Economics, as part of a consortium led by Landell Mills, is supporting the promotion and customer care capacity of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA) through increasing their engagement, communication and analysis capacity based on a better understanding of private sector needs; and, more broadly, will contribute to the sustainable socio-economic development of Tanzania.

The project is being implemented under Services for External Action (SEA) 2023 Lot 7 – Micro-Economic Analysis, Investment Climate, Private Sector, Trade and Employment, funded by the European Commission.

What We Found

Tanzania is one of the 10 fastest-growing economies in Africa, however, given the growing importance of Foreign Direct Investment, and new investors engaging in the country, there is a need to strengthen the engagement and communication between the public and private sectors with regard to attracting new investment, as well as maintaining and expanding existing investment. To address this, the government of Tanzania has identified the need to improve its investment mapping and management framework, within which efforts aimed at investment attraction, targeting, generation, and after-care are being pursued. In this context, International Economics will provide support to Tanzania to increase the promotion and customer care capacity of the TIC and ZIPA, through increasing their engagement, communication and analysis capacity based on a better understanding of the private sector needs.

Our Strategy and Impact

To enhance aftercare services and engagement at TIC and ZIPA, it is crucial to understand their needs, provide tailored technical assistance, and assess the impact of interventions. Our team will support both organisations by building on an institutional, organizational, and technical audit and needs analysis of both ZIPA and TIC. This approach ensures that all activities are aligned with actual needs, enhancing their ability to attract and facilitate investment. By grounding the strategy in this analysis, targeted capacity-building, streamlined processes, and tailored reforms will address the challenges and opportunities in Tanzania’s investment landscape, resulting in sustainable and meaningful impacts.

At International Economics, we build tailor-made strategies for both import and export-oriented business solutions. We carry out sensitivity analysis, and prepare detailed resource scheduling and standard performance dashboards to track the implementation process and financial ratio performance of your products and services. We can also work on corporate leadership and change management strategy. Finally, we develop the analytics and risk matrices and use our cognitive computing insights to update these in real-time.
