The European Commission has commissioned a series of studies on business and investment opportunities for EU private sector entities in the context of the CARIFORUM-EU EPA. The objective of this project is to contribute to a more strategic EU business presence in the region in terms of trade flows, regional value chains, investments, and a greater regional coordination, in line with the regional dimension of the CARIFORUM – EU EPA. It also aims to build awareness about the economic opportunities under the EPA to take a full profit of this Agreement and to give incentives to creating business networks in otherwise fragmented markets comprised mostly of SIDS.
The first sectoral report focuses on Renewable Energy and Other Clean Technologies. The report provides an overview of the business opportunities, as well as key challenges for the development and modernisation of the renewable energy sector. Our research has shown that despite the potential contribution of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and services to resolving some of the energy challenges in the region, markets for these technologies and services remain largely underdeveloped. Therefore, there is a real opportunity for new businesses and investors to enter these markets. To learn more, please consult this E-Brochure.
The report was presented to a wider audience during a webinar on February 9 with industry experts to discuss climate smart investment opportunities and valuable tools and processes for collaborating with EU businesses. The agenda of the webinar can be accessed here.
